Stereotaxy is a highly accurate technique and procedure based on the Cartesian coordinates X, Y and Z,  performed with a stereotactic frame fixed on patient head. There are different types of stereotactic arcs. In Latin America, one of the most used model is the Micromar brand, a model developed along with  prof. Dr. Manoel Jacobsen Teixeira, of Sao Paulo Hospital das Clinicas. Other models used are ZD, Riechter-Moundinger, Leksell, Talairach, among others. For the stereotactic surgical procedure, which allows millimetric precision in the cerebral incision, we created Aimsystem, our Stereotactic System with more than 30 years of tradition, in addition to its stereotactic disposable sets.

Radiofrequency is a minimally invasive procedure, usually performed with sedation and local anesthesia. The procedure became a great hope for the treatment of chronic spine pain (cervical pain, low back pain, herniated disc). The procedure is indicated for those who have not improved with clinical treatment, patients who cannot or do not want to undergo open surgery (such as arthrodesis) and also for patients who have already undergone spinal surgery and have not improved. Micromar has developed several devices to assist minimally invasive procedures for the treatment of pain, such as movement disorders and behavioral disorders, with a wide variety of cannulas and electrodes. There are also brain lesion needles, to use along with stereotactic procedures.

Micromar develop and manufacture automatic-releasing cranial perforators. Trepanning or craniotomy is a surgical procedure that consists of perforating the skull, until it reaches the dura mater, and consequently removing a piece of bone. Cranial trepanation is mainly done to decompress the brain. Various neurosurgical procedures can be performed through a trepanation hole, such as endoscopic ventriculostomy, drainage of subdural hematomas, neurosurgical propaedeutics, microvascular decompression, stereotactic surgeries, etc. The cranial trepanation hole is made with a surgical drill or perforator drill, with auto-stop mechanism. For this type of procedure, after an intense research work, we used all our tradition in neurosurgery to develop the new EasyDrill Cranial Perforator. Cranial fixation is essential for neurological procedures in which intraoperative precision depends on reference stability fixed on the patient’s head. Its role is to offer the best access to intracranial or cervical spine injuries, immobilizing the main structures in order to provide greater precision in the delicate procedures of drilling, opening, removing, repairing the skull, highlighted with the most common techniques. The Skull Support (Mayfield type) Micromar HeadFix assists in these types of procedures, rigidly immobilizing the skull to the operating table, keeping the patient’s head attached throughout the surgical procedure. The Headfix HF02B cranial stabilizer is made of anodized aluminum, and provides greater safety and ease to position the patient in neurosurgery procedures in the sitting, supine (supine) and prone (prone position) positions. Neurostimulation consists of applying stimulus in cortical areas or peripheral nerves to interrupt pain signals transmitted to the brain. A proven safe and effective treatment for chronic pain control in the spine, arms, hands, legs and feet, which can originate from nerve disorders. Trigeminal neuralgia is a chronic pain disorder that affects the trigeminal nerve. The main types are: typical and atypical. The typical form causes episodes of sudden, intense, excruciating pain similar to electric shocks on one side of the face. The atypical shape causes a burning and constant pain, but less intense. There are several causes for trigeminal neuralgia and one of the treatments may be balloon compression of the trigeminal. Micromar developed a complete kit for the application of this technique.
